Antibodies

A complete list of antibody to several different antigens is presently available.

"Custom Made" Antibody Service: Biochem may produce any kind of antibody following the customer specifications. In this case Biochem can also raise antibody by using as antigen material obtained from the customer. Currently and constantly available is the technology to purify olypeptides from a complex mixture (e.g. bacterial or viral proteins) to be used as antigens in antibody production.

Monoclonal antibodies:

against Borrelia burgdorferi s.s.,

against Chlamydia trachomatis.

Antisera to bacterial antigens: Biochem can supply a complete panel of hyperimmune sera (see the above Table).

Special Products

Biochem has also available a first Western Blot kit for the detection of the antibodies anti IgG and anti IgA against the toxins of Helicobacter pylori CagA and VacA, namely the 128 kDa and 87 kDa proteins and a second for the detection of the antibodies anti IgG and anti IgA against the toxin CagA. These polypeptides have been identified as a main target of the antibody response (IgA in particular) in patients suffering from H.pylori gastric infections.

Biochem, in addition to the standard WB preparation made with single isolates of Borrelia burgdorferi s.l. has presently available a "triple" WB strip constituted by three individual lanes each one loaded with the same amount of antigen obtained from individual genospecies of the Borrelia burgdorferi s.l. complex, i.e. Borrelia burgdorferi s.s., Borrelia garinii and Borrelia afzelii. This special strip has demonstrated to really increase the sensitivity and specificity of the WB test, in particular in all the geographical areas where these three different genospecies have been recognized to cause Lyme disease in humans. 
Biochem bacteria culture collection (BBCC) has presently more than 50 different isolates (either of human or animal origin) belonging to these three species coming from all over the world.
